AT A TABLE TOGETHER
I joined a group of French women and men for a meal at the Taguasco church while I was in Cuba. They visited several parts of Cuba, staying homes of Cubans, and getting to know the country and the people.
Along with a group of church members, we spent time getting to know each other and then shared a meal together.
It was fascinating with Spanish, English, and French — not sure how much was understood, but there was joy all around.
I am thinking today about a meal Jesus shared with his friends in an upper room on a Thursday, long ago. He said some things. I don’t know how much was understood at the time.
But, upon reflection, connections were made at that table, just as at the table in Cuba.
Something about sitting at table together.
